Vintage Imperial Prov. USA Two-Blade Jack Knife – Cream Swirl Celluloid Handles (c. 1956–early 1970s)

This classic jack knife from Imperial Knife Co. was crafted between the mid-1950s and early 1970s in Providence, Rhode Island. Featuring a beautiful cream swirl celluloid handle with a polished nickel silver shield and bolsters, this two-blade design captures the practical charm of mid-century American pocketknives.

Blades: Two (pen and spear point), both with good snap and no wobble

Handles: Cream pearlized celluloid with nickel silver bolsters and inset shield

Tang Stamp: “Imperial PROV. USA”

Length (closed): Approx. 3 1/8"

Condition: Blades show patina, scratching and surface wear consistent with age. Handles are intact with typical aging to the celluloid. Still a charming piece of American knife history.

Circa: 1956–early 1970s

Historical Note:
Imperial Knife Company, founded in 1916 in Providence, Rhode Island, became one of the largest pocket knife manufacturers in the U.S. Known for producing affordable and functional knives, especially during wartime and the mid-20th century, Imperial knives are now appreciated by collectors for their nostalgic appeal and quality construction.

Collector’s Note:
These celluloid-handled Imperials are a great introduction to vintage knife collecting—offering both beauty and budget-friendliness. A fine companion for the pocket or display case.

All knives in this shop are vintage or pre-owned unless stated otherwise. While many are in excellent condition, they may show normal signs of age or handling such as scuffs, blemishes, or blade wear. I try to document condition as accurately as possible in both the description and photos. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
