Vintage Imperial “Kamp-King” Scout Knife – Black Jigged Handle – Made in USA (1950s–1960s)

This handsome vintage Kamp-King scout knife was manufactured in the mid-20th century by Imperial Knife Company under their Hammer Brand line. Produced between the 1950s and early 1960s, this knife was designed as a budget-friendly yet functional camp and scout tool — and it has stood the test of time.

It features the classic 4-tool scout configuration:

Spear-point main blade

Can opener

Cap lifter/screwdriver combo

Awl/punch tool

Handle is made of jigged black synthetic, fitted with nickel silver bolsters and the raised KAMP-KING shield emblem on the front. The lanyard ring is still intact — a detail often missing on these — and all tools open and close with a moderate to strong snap.

Historical Note:
The Kamp-King knife is a small icon of American blue-collar design. Emerging during the height of post-WWII practicality, these knives were found in scout packs, glove compartments, and tackle boxes across the country. Produced by Imperial Knife Co. out of Providence, Rhode Island, the knife offered a rugged, affordable alternative to higher-end scout knives like those from Case or Ulster.

Even though they were mass-produced, many Kamp-Kings survived decades of use — a testament to their durable construction. They now serve as nostalgic keepsakes for collectors and outdoor traditionalists alike.
